Compare ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus, Pro and Business: prices, limits and features, and how to choose the right plan.
What it is
ChatGPT has one free plan and several paid plans. They all use the same app. Paying gets you more messages, stronger models and extra tools. This page explains each plan in plain words so you can decide whether you need to upgrade.
Prices change often. The figures below are US prices as of late October 2026. In India and many other countries you see a local price at checkout, so always confirm on OpenAI's official pricing page before you pay.

What each plan gives you
Free
Chat, writing, web search, voice, file uploads and a limited number of images, all with daily limits. You use OpenAI's fast everyday model. In some countries the Free plan shows ads below answers.
Go
The low-cost plan. Same main model as Free, but with higher limits for messages, file uploads, image creation and memory. Go may also show ads. It does not include tools like Deep Research or Agent.
Plus
The most popular paid plan. You get OpenAI's main model with selectable thinking levels for harder problems, plus Deep Research, Agent, Codex (coding), Projects and custom GPTs. No ads.
Pro
Offered at three price levels. Pro gives you much higher usage than Plus and access to the Pro reasoning setting, OpenAI's strongest option for long, difficult work. The higher the tier, the more usage you get.
Business and Enterprise
For teams. They add a shared workspace, admin controls, single sign-on and connectors to work apps. Business and Enterprise data is not used to train OpenAI's models by default. Enterprise adds custom contracts, data residency and dedicated support.
How to upgrade
- Click your profile (bottom left) and choose Upgrade plan.
- Pick a plan and click Upgrade.
- Pay by card (UPI and local methods may be offered in India).
- Your new limits apply right away.
To cancel, open Settings, then Account, and choose Cancel plan. You keep paid features until the end of the billing period. If you subscribed through the iPhone or Android app, cancel it in the App Store or Google Play instead.
Example: which plan should I choose?
- Neha, a college student, uses ChatGPT a few times a day to understand topics and make notes. Free is enough, and Go is a cheap upgrade if she keeps hitting the limit.
- Arjun, a freelance marketer, writes ad copy and analyses spreadsheets for clients all day. Plus pays for itself.
- A 10-person agency wants shared workspaces and private data. Business.

Tips and common mistakes
- Start free. Upgrade only when you keep hitting limits or need a specific tool.
- The subscription is not the API. A ChatGPT plan does not include API credits for developers. The API is billed separately (see OpenAI API for Beginners).
- Check where you subscribed. Cancelling on the website does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription.
- Local prices differ. When ChatGPT Go launched in India in August 2025 it cost ₹399 a month. Check today's price in your country at checkout.
